Fort Howlitz is a nature centered enrichment facility for dogs.
Originally started as a home based day camp and boarding operation under the name Paws & Stay Bark & Breakfast, we transitioned to focus exclusively on our day camp exercise and enrichment program in our fourth year of business. With that change we re-branded as Fort Howlitz - a play on words honoring the local heritage of Fort Cowlitz near our lovely small town of Toledo. You can learn a little more about us and our personal dogs here.
We offer convenient latchkey day camp adventures for modern dogs to be able to embrace their nature and exercise their body and mind in a natural setting. Most dogs were bred for specific tasks. Search, chase, chew, sniff, dig, run. Modern domestic life does not provide many opportunities to embrace these inherent behaviors. Our day camp program can help with mental stimulation, regular exercise, basic manner reinforcement and socialization.
We believe all dogs benefit from consistent opportunities to exercise both physically and mentally while reinforcing their etiquette skills. While attending day camp your dog will spend a majority of their day free range in a structured group setting exploring our property. Our playground is fully fenced with 6 foot fencing and routine perimeter checks. Your dog(s) will love all the sights and smells they find while exploring our rousing woodland trails with their friends under our experienced supervision.
Our shuttle van has been modified to hold individual crates for safe and secure transport and is available for camper convenience. We also offer key service so you don't even have to be home for your pup to enjoy a fun filled day! Shuttles are scheduled between 9:00-10:00 AM for pick up in the morning and 4:00-5:00 PM for evening drop off. Please see our shuttle service area here.
We require all dogs to be:
Spayed or Neutered
6+ months old
And our required vaccinations are:
DHPP (Distemper & Parvo series)
We do not require but also recommend influenza and leptospirosis vaccination and a year around flea and tick preventative.
Our daycamp pricing is $30 per day which includes shuttles within our service area. After successful registration we require all dogs to attend camp at least once a week in order to build upon our understanding of and relationship with each other.
